Merry Christmas!

Thanks Ginger!!

I was reading my friend, Becki's, blog post titled "The Word 'Christmas'" and saw where she said, "With the way society approaches it, I believe it is actually more offensive for the majority to call it Christmas, especially when the majority could care less about the birth of Christ."

I read that line and thought it was so profound and accurate! I had never thought of it like this before. Oh sure, I'm the first to tell you the reasons why "Xmas" is not anti-Christian. I'm even one of the few who will tell everyone that the reason we celebrate Christmas when we do is because they combined it with a Pagan holiday. (i do this to get people to shut up about me letting my kids celebrate halloween) Yet I had never thought about the fact that many out there who say "Merry Christmas" are not Christians at all and have no idea (or ignore) the real reason behind it.

I will continue typing CHRISTmas or trying to not take Christ out of Christmas. But I have never done that for any reason other than I want to. I don't do it to make any kind of point other than so people know why *I* celebrate CHRISTmas. I celebrate it because it's the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!
