What is it about people that makes them think that because someone else is in the same boat, so to speak, as they are that they should automatically agree with them or at the very least not publicly disagree? We see it in politics... I have actually heard people say that black people should agree with Obama because they are all black. WHAT?!?!?!?! That's crazy! That's like saying I should agree with Hitler because we're both white. (not currently comparing Obama to Hitler, just saying same rationalization could be used)
Today I called someone out on Facebook because she sounded very bitter about something in a post she made. It was just my observation. She, nor anyone else, had to agree with it (though at least one person did) I was just stating my observations based on what she posted...Twice...In a 5-10 minute span. Well she responded by attacking me. Saying that I was acting as though no one else was allowed to have an opinion or whatever. Umm.. No. I never said that. I just said that you sounded bitter. Well after her attack on me, I said that her statement made her sound like a bitch.... Again, in my opinion, she sounded like a bitch and I was done dealing with her. I have better things to do with my time. Like enjoy my daughter's birthday!
Well, APPARENTLY there are some in the stepmom community who think that I should have kept my opinion to myself and that I should have just agreed with this other stepmom just on the basis of us both being stepmoms. Umm.. NO!!!!! On top of holding this theory, she then decided that instead of coming to me and trying to talk about it, she was going to post a passive/aggressive status update that stepmoms shouldn't call other stepmoms bitches because we get enough abuse as it is. No she didn't call me out by name, but she knew that I was (key word here as I am not any longer) on her friend list.
Umm...HELLO!!!!!!!!! I'm not going to agree with feminism because I'm a woman. I'm not going to agree with Hitler because I'm white. And I'm not going to agree with someone random person in cyberspace because we're both stepmoms.
So now my facebook friends list is one friend lighter. I'm cool with that. In fact, I kinda wonder if by the end of the day my page won't be a few more friends lighter. I'm cool with that too. I have my own brain and think for myself. Don't like that, bug off.
