Financial Waste

I waste my fair share of our finances. That is DH & I's choice. I choose to spend it and he chooses to let me. (yes, i ask my husband if i can purchase extras...and if i don't ask beforehand, i will offer to take it back if he wants me to) However it really ticks me off when the government mandates that we waste our money.

Let's look at the light bulbs. We've gotten along for many years with the old florescent bulbs. You can buy a 4 pack for like 70 some cents. They light up the room just fine. Then someone decided to make a new, more energy efficient, light bulb and CFL bulbs were invented. (hehe cfl.... sorry makes me giggle cause of CFL Heels.... never mind) These new bulbs are $17 for a 6 pack at my local WalMart according to their website. So sure you save in the long run on your electric bill, however you're paying out the nose in the short term to buy them to begin with. They are expensive, they aren't as bright (i have to light all 3 of my living room lamps instead of just 2 now... read as more energy used), and oh if they break you have health hazards to worry about because they used Mercury in them. Wait, didn't they get rid of all thermometers with mercury in them?! Now they want to put them in light bulbs? But I digress.... These light bulbs were invented and put on the market. That's great. Tree huggers can buy those, broke b*tches like me could still buy the fluorescent ones. EXCEPT that tree huggers have people in the government who pushed to do away with the fluorescent ones and force us all to use these more expensive & not as bright bulbs. WASTE OF MONEY!!!!

Another waste of money... There is a new mandate requiring ALL insurance policies to cover Autism expenses. As a mother of a child with Asperger's I say WooHoo except.... Except why should my parents have to add Autism insurance when they have no dependents at all? Why should my neighbor have to add Autism insurance when their children are "typical"? I love that this is an available option. I just don't understand why it's been mandated that it be added to EVERYONE'S policies. You know the insurance companies are just going to pass that cost along to their users making people pay higher premiums whether they use the Autism insurance or not. WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!

Why can't we go back to the days where the money we earn is ours to spend how we deem necessary? Why does everyone else think they know better than you & I do how to spend our money? Pisses me off!!!!
