What I learned is that it is REALLY difficult, as an adult, to go completely tech free. For example; we couldn't check weather reports, find answers to the hard Questions the kid asked, pay bills, look up how much money we had/was getting, etc...
I also learned it is pretty dumb to cut out e-readers if going to read a book, cut out drawing on iPad if going to draw with pencil an paper, cut out computer solitaire if going to play with a deck of cards, and so on. It was ridiculous.
I do think it was good for the kids though. Fewer television shows and video games equaled more imaginative play. Plastic tubs an markers became K's drum set, S got his Legos out and built, they played TOGETHER without fighting as much, and pets were loved on, it was great.
The original intent with TFT was to bring us all closer to God and to each other. Neither of which do I think really happened. Only twice, so far, did the kids or I pull out our Bibles to do a study and I kinda feel we spent LESS time together on TFT than any other day. Typically we will eat dinner together, talk, and watch NCIS or Leverage. Instead we would eat almost in silence. Not to mention that instead of all gathering in the living room together; the kids would go off to their rooms to play, I'd end up napping (stupid fibro... but that's another post for another day), and Hubby would....... I have no clue cause I'd be napping. LOL Point being we weren't together. I didn't realize how much of our together time was watching shows we all enjoy. It's about all that the 4 of us have in common that can span the ages between 35 down to 5.
I am glad we did this though and I hope to continue it, at least with the kids.
